How Long Does It Take to Produce a Custom Album Set?

These are among the most complex and beautiful products we produce, with many custom print components, various types of booklets, binding, hardcover and semi-hardcover construction.

A reasonable guide is three (3) weeks for simple spiral bound A4-A5 books with disc inserts, four (4) weeks for custom slipcase and/or softcover disc wallets or mailers, to up to 12 weeks for complex custom hardcover packaging with section sewn booklets and glued endpapers.

Some custom softcover and basic book binding sets can be fully produced in Australia, whereas the larger hardcover and multi-disc sets will be far cheaper to produce at our overseas factories.

The starting point for any custom set is a discussion of the number and type of media required, and the number / size of any booklet pages. We can then talk through binding, slipcover and finishing options.

We'll then calculate an approximate project cost and leadtime. If these project guidelines are within your budget and launch dates, we can proceed to full quotation.

Once the order is received, the first step is to create the custom artwork templates. We may also elect to include a white sample creation in the quote if it's a unique new pack and we need to test spine width and other construction elements. Custom template and white sample creation is part of the production process, and an initial deposit of 10% will be required to proceed to this step.

Once the templates are prepared, we'll forward to your designer (or ours) to create the print ready artwork. We'll also require masters and a further 50% deposit at this point.

We'll provide progress updates on longer lead time projects whenever you need them and help keep tabs on any release commitments.

As with all Replicat album manufacturing, we're here to help and understand that you may have an urgent deadline to meet. Please talk to our team about your requirements and we'll work out master and artwork cut-off dates to suit.
